Credentialing & Inspection

Educational requirements for Costa Rican dentists are similar when compared to US dentists. In the US, dentists attend a school of dentistry for 4 years after receiving their undergraduate degree and often specialize with an additional 2-4 years of training. In Costa Rica, dentists complete 6 years of dental training with an additional 2-3 years for a specialty.

US dentists must be credentialed by the American Dental Association while Costa Rican dentists must be licensed by the Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas (The College of Dental Surgeons).
